MARKETING

ANCHOR FOR "MARKETING"

Marketing education is a program designed to prepare secondary and postsecondary students to conduct the critical business functions associated with directing the flow of products and services from the producer to the consumer. A fundamental understanding of the marketing concept and basic marketing skills are essential not only to students entering the field of marketing but for everyone entering the workforce. Marketing education courses provide students with knowledge and skills that are highly transferable and will last a lifetime. The discipline of marketing is built upon three areas of interdisciplinary content. These foundations of economics, human resource skills and marketing concepts are necessary to understand and apply the nine functions of marketing.

MISSION & GOALS

The mission of the Platte County High School Marketing Program is to execute instruction in the curriculum of the marketing program administered by the Missouri Department of Education using proven successful teaching strategies and methods in a stimulating and supporting environment and to equip marketing and DECA students with the skills and resources that they need to achieve their maximum potential in the securement of postsecondary education enrollment and/or successful job placement after high school graduation.

Goals of the Platte County High School Marketing Program:

  • To foster an environment of learning that equips students and enables them to produce evidence of leadership in a portfolio that includes experiences, initiatives, and accomplishments that reflect a habit of leadership.
  • To create a desire in students so that they will thrive on sophisticated ideas and lively discussion, recognizing that learning depends upon the active participation of prepared students who can assess, analyze, and act upon complex information.
  •  To teach students the social and ethical responsibilities of business in a variety of ways, both inside and outside the classroom, in an effort to graduate students who are socially responsible, have respect for others, and are positive contributors to our society.
