ANCHOR FOR "BUSINESS"

The Business and Technology department at
​Platte County High School strives to prepare students for the vast opportunities available in the business and technological worlds. We offer specialized instruction to educate students for careers in business including the accounting, advertising, financing, and technology industries.

​Our technology courses expose students to careers in
​Web Design, Computer Programming, Multimedia, and Graphic Design. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students to become responsible citizens, capable of making the economic and technical decisions that will benefit their personal and professional lives. Students considering future study in business or computer technology should enroll in as many courses as possible in their high school years.

MISSION & GOALS

The mission of the Platte County ​Business Department is to enable students to understand and apply
business, marketing, management, and entrepreneurial principles; to make rational economic decisions; and to
​exhibit social responsibility in a global economy. 


Through completing our coursework with its emphasis on project-based and practical experiences, our students will be better able to:
  1. Utilize and integrate essential communication and technical skills significant to 21st century life, work, and community
  2. Understand financial literacy and responsibility as personal and professional members of society
  3. Make ethical decisions needed to promote democracy and free enterprise
  4. Evaluate careers using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to respond to changing societal and economic conditions
  5. Analyze global interdependencies while evaluating the importance of cultural perspectives and diverse values
  6. Apply information technology to achieve an organization’s business goals
  7. Create authentic learning experiences to successfully transfer knowledge into real-world experiences preparing them for life and career
  8. Use technology to extend creativity and/or improve problem-solving ability
