Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers and communities by addressing important personal, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education. Today over 227,000 members are active in a network of associations in 50 states as well as in the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.

FCCLA MISSION:
Promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education, focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader. Members develop skills for life through:

FCCLA GOALS:
- To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life.
- To strengthen the function of the family as the basic unit of society.
- To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and family.
- To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony
- To institute greater understanding between youth and adults.
- To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities.
- To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in today’s society.
- To develop interest in family and consumer sciences, family and consumers science careers and related occupations
Meetings: Chapter meetings will be held once a month during PLT and once a month after school in Room 9. Dates and times are TBD. Check the school announcements, FCCLA Remind 101 Reminders, FCCLA Twitter Account, FCCLA Instagram page and the Practical Arts bulletin broad for more information. Most FCCLA activities will take place during or after school.
Participation: High School students ranging from ninth grade to seniors are eligible to become a member of the Platte County FCCLA Chapter.
Activities: Activities include attending Region 2 Regional Meeting, organizing the annual Platte County High School Blood Drive, volunteering at Hillcrest Thrift Store in Platte City, setting up the United Services Christmas Store, making cards for the nursing home, making no-sew blankets for the Treasure Chest, and monthly food donations for the Platte County Treasure Chest.
Dues: Dues are $25. The fee includes the Platte County FCCLA T-Shirt and Regional Meeting dues.
